Four young musicians specialize in playing a wide variety of original compositions whereas you can feel the compositional influence of all band members. The quartet´s style is characterized by complex rhythms and experimentation with sounds and extra-musical images. Besides constant concert activity in and around Vienna, the Maria Salamon Quartet won a Jazz-scholarship at the 9th “Fidelio-Competition” in February 2010 for performing some of their original compositions.

Circumsonus

Circumsonus

The modern jazz quintet “Circumsonus”, consisting of five musicians, perform their own compositions and arrangements and like to experiment with rhythm and tonality. The repertoire varies from dynamic and energetic tunes to melodic ballads up to abstract melodies. In the last two years the quintet had success at different competitions because of their intensive common work in the rehearsal room and the constant concert activity. Some Compositions of the band have been awarded with a prize at the “Fidelio-Competition 2009” in the category of interpretation and also creation, organized by the Conservatory of Vienna/ Private University. In February 2010 they applied for the 4th International Competition in Bucharest, which is organized by the association “Jeunesse Musicales Romania” and takes place every year. Together with 14 other international bands, the quintet was invited to participate in the semifinal in May 2010.
