Jazz Fest Wien 2011: 30.06.
Marilyn Mazur’s Celestial Circle feat. John Taylor
Porgy & Bess 21.00

Marilyn Mazur, the New York-born Danish percussionist, started out as a self-taught autodictat. She went on to play with Charlie Mariano and numerous free improvisation ensembles. For a four-year period starting in 1985 she performed in the band of Miles Davis. She also played alongside Gil Evans and Wayne Shorter. In 1991, she began her ongoing musical association with the Norwegian saxophone-philosopher Jan Garbarek. Mazur, who currently leads four ensembles, shows herself in each setting to be a master of subtle percussion. In Vienna, she will perform in a quartet with the master pianist John Taylor.
