Dusko Goykovich Quartett
Jazzland 21.00
June 26 to 28
Born in Montenegro in 1932, trumpeter and composer Dusko Goykovich is one of European jazz’s true legends. Inspired by the folk music of his homeland, he brought new melodies to jazz.
He performed in the big bands of Max Greger and Kurt Edelhagen early in his career. He also played with greats such as Chet Baker, Stan Getz, Percy Heath and Oscar Pettiford.
He brought out the first album under his name in 1966 and “Macedonia” soon became a jazz classic. Based in Munich since 1967, he formed the long-running Munich Big Band in the early 1970s.
