Cyndi Lauper

Cyndi Lauper is the embodiment of the eternal impish girl. Her trademark is her shrill and high-pitched voice, the key element why her sweet-sounding pop songs remain so popular.

So it was even more surprising when she (at the age of 62) shifted gears to the blues. People who have heard her album “Memphis Blues” have been impressed and pleasantly surprised. But on stage live she continues to enjoy performing her pop classics such as “Girls Just Want To Have Fun”, “She Bop”, “True Colors” and “Time After Time”.

Meena Cryle

Meena Cryle sounds like a combination of Janis Joplin and Etta James. But beneath her raw sound, somewhere between soul and the blues, there lies a desire and commitment , a sadness and ecstasy.

Cryle grew up with Upper Austrian folk music and the “Schlager” music of the group The Bambis. But she soon found new musical inspiration in the songs of Etta James, Millie Jackson and, yes, Janis Joplin.

For the past 16 years she has been performing alongside guitarist Chris Fillmore. Their three albums – “Try Me”, “Feel Me” and “Tell Me” are superb. As with all good singers, seeing her live is a bit better than a studio recording.
