George Clinton is not only a great eccentric but also the principal architect of P-Funk, a cocktail of funk, rock, and psychedelic sound effects. Jazz brass sounds meet bubbling polyrhythms accompanied by driving bass wrapped around melodic vocals.
Born in North Carolina in 1940, this singer and composer founded the seminal band Parliament when he was still a teenager. Later, he went on to co-found Funkadelic and the P-Funk All-Stars. This much-sampled master has also worked with younger stars such as Prince, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Snoop Dogg.
